“Staying Connected in Polarizing Times: Somatic and Communication Strategies for Challenging Conversations”

In this time of political, religious, and ideological divides, it can be challenging to listen and connect with people whose core beliefs are different than ours. It is easy to lean into fear and avoidance, which only deepens the divide between individuals and communities. Moving away from us vs. them thinking can be challenging, but with the right techniques and strategies, you can begin bridging the gap.

Date:  Saturday Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Encounter Group”

Experience a life changing journey with the Encounter Group. This group gathers people to support each other in overcoming hardships and developing a more fulfilling life. Through sharing experiences, participants offer encouragement and comfort to the other members and receive the same in return. These interpersonal interactions allow group members to deepen their self-awareness, learn how they relate to others, and receive multiple perspectives in a safe and confidential environment.

“Make Sense of Your Dreams” Workshop

Gain insights about yourself and the world through your dreams and the dreams of others. Dreams are healthy and healing and can help guide us through emotional, practical and spiritual issues. Led by facilitators with expertise in healing through dreams. This is not a therapy group.
Dates: Oct. 7, 14, 28 and Nov. 4
Time: 11 a.m. to noon

“Finding Solid Ground”

This therapy group for survivors of childhood sexual abuse is a safe place to learn about how you've been impacted by what happened to you, to learn ways to cope with the effects, and to gain solid footing for healing and growth.

Grief Groups

“Grief Group for Parents of Adult Children to Suicide or Drug Overdose”

The loss of a child at any age brings a unique grief. Traumatic circumstances make coping especially difficult. In this group series, led by an experienced grief counselor, we will discuss what to expect when grieving, how to cope with grief, parental identity after loss, managing responses from friends, family, and strangers, dealing with birthdays and anniversaries, guilt, and the layers of grief. Limit six.

Dates:  Tuesdays Starts Sept. 17
Time:  5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Next Four Week Session Starts in November.

Location: Crossbridge Wellness Office, 2000 S. Winton Rd.
Cost: $140 per person. $200 for couples. (Some scholarship money available.)

“Sibling Grief Group”

The death of a sibling brings a unique grief because it is a unique relationship. Join with other adults who are trying to make sense of life after the death of a sibling. The companionship of a grief support group can help you face difficult emotions and feel heard by others who understand what you’re facing. Topics may include: coping strategies, changing identity roles, changes in family, spirituality and meaning, myths and facts about grief, anger, and other emotions.

Dates: Every 3rd Tuesday
Time: 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
Location: Online and in person
Cost:$30 per session.

“Facing Life After the Death of a Spouse or Life Partner”

This four-week therapy group will help people who are struggling to cope following the death of a spouse or life partner. Topic may include: What to expect when grieving; changes in roles and identity; managing responses from family and friends; dealing with birthdays and anniversaries, guilt, and the layers of grief. Limit six.
